With the right tools, mindset, and resources public entrepreneurs — passionate public servants eager to take on the challenges facing their communities and constituents — can become more effective at solving public problems. In this session, New Jersey State Chief Innovation Officer Beth Simone Noveck will address the urgency of public entrepreneurship, discuss the skills of the public entrepreneur and why they matter along with strategies for developing those skills. She will also highlight New Jersey’s flagship and free public learning platform: The NJ Innovation Skills Accelerator.

    • This session will provide an opportunity for members to learn from state DOTs across the country about their recent activities related to active transportation. Representatives from a number of states will share examples of their efforts on guidance, design, and planning to inform and improve active transportation operations within their state agencies. Following these presentations, audience members will have the chance to ask questions and participate in a discussion summarizing the session.
